Rizòmata is a one-of-a-kind narrative video game that blends exploration, puzzles, and storytelling to deliver an immersive cultural experience set in the extraordinary setting of Agrigento.

The game invites players into a post-apocalyptic world where the balance between the four primordial elements—earth, water, air, and fire—has been disrupted. Guided by the philosopher Empedocles, players embark on a journey through the city’s iconic sites to restore harmony among the elements and uncover the hidden beauty of an ancient civilization. The story unfolds through a memoryless protagonist who, through Empedocles’ teachings, embarks on a path of personal and collective rebirth. Each puzzle solved and each discovery made helps fill the pages of an initially blank book, which gradually becomes a cultural compendium dedicated to Agrigento’s history and memory.

Agrigento is not merely the backdrop—it is the beating heart of the narrative. The city, with its temples, legends, and rich cultural tradition, becomes a symbol of broader reflection on the balance between humanity and nature. Every place visited is a fragment of memory to be rediscovered, an opportunity to reflect on the importance of preserving cultural and natural heritage.

The gameplay stands out for its combination of stimulating puzzles and evocative settings, appealing to both experienced gamers and those new to the medium. The missions encourage players to explore, reflect, and interact with their surroundings, turning every moment into an opportunity for learning and discovery. The freedom offered by the game allows each player to shape their experience at their own pace, exploring Agrigento through a mix of entertainment and education.

Rizòmata represents a new way of telling and experiencing history, transforming the heritage of Agrigento into a living, interactive virtual world. Its narrative does not merely celebrate the past—it invites players to engage with the present consciously and look to the future with hope. Universal themes such as natural balance, ethics, and the beauty of diversity are expressed through a modern, engaging language capable of evoking emotion and sparking thought.

This project serves as a cultural bridge, enhancing both the tangible and intangible heritage of Agrigento while connecting past, present, and future. Rizòmata is more than a video game: it is a sensory and intellectual experience, an emotional journey that transforms the video game medium into a tool for memory, cultural reflection, and symbolic rebirth.

With this innovative interactive experience, Agrigento becomes the true protagonist of a timeless narrative, capable of connecting generations and cultures through a single, universal story.
