Le piazze della Capitale

La Strada degli Scrittori presents Le Piazze della Capitale, a project that transforms symbolic places across the province of Agrigento into stages of a collective story. A cultural journey through squares, castles, churches, and mines that inspired the great masters of 20th-century literature—from Pirandello to Sciascia, from Camilleri to Tomasi di Lampedusa. Public spaces become open-air stages, where memory turns into narration.

Curated by La Strada degli Scrittori and Fondazione Agrigento 2025

Le Piazze della Capitale is the new project by La Strada degli Scrittori, created in collaboration with the Fondazione Agrigento 2025, which transforms the identity-rich places of the province into stages of a widespread collective narrative.
Each square becomes an open-air theatre where history, literature, and everyday life intersect. From Pirandello to Sciascia, from Camilleri to Tomasi di Lampedusa, the great voices of the 20th century come alive through cultural itineraries that touch castles, churches, mines, and working-class neighborhoods, restoring depth and meaning to the urban landscape.
The project aims to make culture accessible and participatory, involving schools, local communities, associations, and institutions, with the goal of rediscovering the literary soul of the territory and inspiring new ways of seeing the present.

A journey through stories, landscapes, and visions

The project unfolds through a series of events that highlight the connection between literature, identity, and place. Among them, the Festa del Viaggio brings the cloister of the Palazzo della Provincia in Agrigento to life from May 26 to 30, with free evening events dedicated to storytelling, places, and flavors, featuring writers, artists, chefs, and journalists.
An invitation to explore culture as a shared, vibrant, and ever-evolving experience.
