by Marco De Paolis

On Thursday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. at Villa Genuardi, Military Prosecutor General Marco De Paolis will present his book Hunting the Nazis (Rizzoli), in conversation with historian Beniamino Biondi. The event is part of the Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025 program and will also feature Maria Teresa Cucinotta, president of the Foundation.

An investigation in the name of memory

In his book, De Paolis recounts his fifteen-year work as a magistrate that led to more than 500 legal proceedings against Nazi-Fascist war criminals. It all began in 1994 with the discovery of the "armoire of shame" in Rome—an archive hidden away containing nearly 700 dossiers on Nazi crimes in Italy. With a foreword by Liliana Segre, the book is a powerful tool for shedding light on the past and restoring justice to the victims.
